The neighborhood sits on five acres of land that dates back to the days of Ponce De Leon in the early 1500s. The Calusa Indians later took over the area, forcing the Spaniards to go back to Cuba.
Our wonderful neighborhood is named Punta Rassa, which means smooth or flat point in Spanish. Spanish Conquistadors unloaded cattle in the area during the mid-16th century. The Native Americans occupied the land during the 1700s, and then during the 1800s, Punta Rassa became a cattle shipping town. During the late 1800s, Punta Rassa became an excellent spot for sport fishing.
