Join the Fight: Breast Cancer Awareness Month

With one in every eight women being diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime, each year, over 39,000 women die of breast cancer. October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month and a time to raise the bar on finding a cure.

Columbus, Ohio has many big-time, successful events during Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Whether you are an Ohio local or moving to Columbus this month, check out what your surrounding neighborhoods have to offer so that you can take part in such a major movement to finding a cure.1. Buckeyes GO PINK Game:

Perhaps the largest Oklahoma State University event of the month is the Buckeyes GO PINK Game. Buckeye Nation will “go pink” every year during their mid-month game. Help turn Ohio Stadium pink by wearing pink accessories or arriving early to receive a pink rally item.

2. Komen Race for the Cure:

The Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure Series is the world's largest and most successful fundraising and education event for breast cancer ever created. Komen Columbus has helped raise $19 million since 1993. Participation in the event helps provide significant funds for research and brings the most awareness to the community on breast cancer. Participants can choose to run or walk either a 5k or 1-mile course, cheer at the finish line, or simply make a donation.3. National Breast Reconstruction Awareness Day (BRA Day):

In honor of National Breast Cancer Reconstruction Awareness Day, OSU's Comprehensive Cancer Center, the James Cancer Hospital and Solove Research Institute is recognizing the many faces of breast cancer and the individual journeys and struggles of each diagnosed breast cancer patient. If you have been diagnosed with breast cancer you can help OSU create awareness by Tweeting or Instagramming your BRAve Face and story with the hashtag #OSUBraveFace.4. Trek Breast Cancer Awareness Ride:

Trek Breast Cancer Awareness rides feature 10 and 25 mile family-friendly group rides. All proceeds go directly to The Breast Cancer Research Foundation.

If we join hand-in-hand in creating breast cancer awareness, together we can find a cure. Move to Columbus, Ohio and join our community in saving women from breast cancer.
