Airline Travel Plans

For people who are moving long distance to or from St. Louis, while the majority of your household belongings will travel to your new home via moving truck, chances are high that you will be traveling by plane. Airline travel has changed drastically over the years, so your St. Louis professional mover here has a few helpful tips to keep your airline travel a smooth-moving experience. You may not have moved very recently, nor traveled via airplane, which could make for an especially stressful event; however, avoiding stress all together can easily be accomplished by simply planning ahead.

If you are gearing up for your flight out to your new home, the good news is that your moving duties have almost come to a close. However, you're not out of the woods yet, and just as moving can cause a lot of stress, so can planning an airline flight! If you are flying to your new home, your mover here suggests packing a bag of essentials so that you will have no problems functioning should you arrive before your moving truck does. Naturally you'll want to include hygiene products in your luggage which could make your trip through airport security a hassle. When it comes to liquids, there are very strict rules that any airport regular knows quite well. The 3-1-1 rule should be closely followed to avoid unfavorable encounters with the TSA. Specifically, the 3-1-1 rule mandates that any one passenger limit his or her liquid carry-on items to 3.4 ounces or less, in one quart-sized clear zip-top bag, and may only have one bag containing liquid. For passengers travelling with more than 3.4 ounces of liquid or gel items, checking luggage is a smart option.

Not everybody can limit his or her liquid necessities to 3.4 ounces, and considering the ever-rising cost of airline baggage checking this can be a huge inconvenience. In many cases it is more cost effective to ship luggage via FedEx or another provider than it is to check baggage at the airport. Aside from liquid items, sharp objects, flammable objects or substances, and many other potentially hazardous items are prohibited from airline travel. Take the advice of your St. Louis moving company and pack your bag of essentials at least a week before your flight; be sure to pack everything that you will need while awaiting the arrival of your moving truck, and be sure that your luggage does not contain any prohibited items!
