1. Fireplace. Still looking at the mantel that was built in the 50s and is on its last leg? Take a couple of days to update it! Opt for a mantel with more depth, so that you will have extra room to display photos, candles, and other cozy home accents. You can even take your new mantel one step further and add a fresh coat of paint or add new moldings to take the overall look of your fireplace one step further. But, you don't have to stop at changing just the mantel - switching out the actual fireplace for a gas or wood-burning insert, will make your home much more energy-efficient - definitely a great selling point when showing your home to potential buyers.

2. Front Entry. Consider the front door of your home the make-or-break aspect of your house. After all, it is the first impression that everyone gets when coming to visit. Immediately give your home a facelift by adding a fresh coat of paint, or choose a new door knob or door knocker. If you are looking to create an extra pop of color for your front entry, then use bold accent colors throughout. You can even invest in a whole new door altogether, with more windows on it so you increase the amount of sunlight brightening up the inside of your home.

3. Paint. The easiest way to immediately remodel a room in your home without breaking the bank, is to paint it a new fresh color. Select a bright color that you may not have normally chosen for an immediate upgrade, for a more modern feel that will translate throughout your whole home. Make sure to prime the walls first, so that your paint will last as long as possible and look fresh for a long time.

4. Dimmer. Adding a dimmer switch to your dining room will provide an instant way to set the atmosphere when showing your home to potential buyers, or for adding ambiance during dinner parties. You can even select between different types of bulbs in order to change the effect the light has - you can always use traditional incandescent bulbs, but if you like the look of a fluorescent light better, then make sure to buy dimmable bulbs that are more conducive to giving the room the look and feel of what you want.
