Moving Terms to Know When Hiring Indianapolis Movers

Before you move to Indianapolis, there are going to be documents you'll need to read and understand. This can be a tricky process if you don't understand some of the terms. All My Sons Moving & Storage is here to help you better understand some moving terms that are used often when going through the moving process.

Accessorial Charges: Charges made by the moving company for services such as unpacking and appliance servicing that are charged in addition to the actual transport costs. When working with the Indiana movers at All My Sons Moving & Storage, these fees are already included when you opt for the full-service option.

Bill of Lading: The receipt for your goods and the contract for their transportation. It is your responsibility to understand the Bill of Lading before you sign it. If you do not agree with something on the Bill of Lading, do not sign it until you are satisfied that it is correct. The Bill of Lading is an important document given to you by your Indiana movers. Do not lose it.

Escrow: Two or more people deposit money or valuables with an independent third party until terms of a contract are fulfilled.

Estimate, Binding: A written agreement with your moving company stating the total cost of the move based on an estimate of items prior to your move.

Estimate, Non-Binding: Final charges based upon the actual weight of your shipment, the tariff (see below) provisions in effect, and any additional charges incurred along the way.

Tariff: A comprehensive list of your moving company's rates, rules and regulations for your specific move. Tariffs vary depending on your specific move to Indianapolis, such as if it's long distance or not.

Interstate Move: The relocation of goods in the United States from a place in one state to a place in a different state.

Local move: Generally, a move that is within a 30-mile radius.

Quote: An estimation of a price that a moving company will provide, based on your specific moving needs. Quotes are especially helpful in choosing between two or more moving companies. At All My Sons Moving & Storage Indianapolis, you get a free, no-obligation quote.
