All My Sons Moving

It can seem like a challenge to find things to do with kids in Boise to keep them entertained on a weekend or a rainy day. Some of our Boise movers are parents themselves and they'll share a few of the best activities for kids in Boise.

Aquarium of Boise

The aquarium of Boise is one of the great things to do with kids in Boise, but parents can also join in the fun. Explore the numerous exhibits featuring all kinds of exotic marine life from all over the world. The coral reef exhibit is a sight to behold with all the colorful fish and coral. Take a look at sharks before they get big and scary at the shark nursery, where eggs hatch and baby sharks get ready to join the others. For something a little more hands-on, let them feed the birds in the new aviary or get up close to the shark and stingray pool to feed them too!1

Discovery Center of Idaho

Learn by playing is the name of the game at the Discovery Center! This kid-friendly science museum features hands-on exhibits for your children to interact and learn with. The Discovery Center of Idaho has a mission and vision to inspire lifelong interest and learning in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM). The museum believes learning is fun and can expand the minds of your little ones. The opportunities offered at the museum empower children and the community scientifically and creatively.2 The Discovery Center of Idaho really is one of the coolest activities for kids in Boise.

Boise Depot

All Aboard! Admire the beautiful Spanish architecture of this historic train station that opened in 1925. Perfect for children who love trains or parents who appreciate history, this is an activity even dad can get behind. Take a stroll through the beautiful Platt gardens and visit Big Mike, the the steam locomotive on site. You can also take the tour for free every first Sunday of the month at 12 p.m. or 1:30 p.m. to learn more about the history of the Boise Depot.3

MK Nature Center

Offering a unique wildlife experience on their 4.6-acre site along the Boise River Greenbelt, the Idaho Fish and Game MK Nature Center is fun for all. Stroll around with the kids and see if you can spot trout, birds, or even a beaver or two. Turn it into an “Eye Spy” game for the little ones and use the opportunity to teach them about the wildlife that exists in Boise. The MK Nature Center also offers all kinds of interesting activities for kids in Boise so check out the different programs throughout the year, including Fishing 101 and the Streamwalk.4

The World Center for Birds of Prey

The World Center for Birds of Prey is one of the best things to do with kids in Boise without breaking the bank. It's free for children under four years old and $5 kids that are 5-16 years old. The wildlife center is an organization dedicated to conserving birds of prey that are endangered. The discovery room for younger children has treasures such as feathers, eggs, puzzles and costumes they could touch, play with, and take a look at. There are even live raptor presentations throughout the day! But don't worry, these aren't like the raptors in Jurassic Park. For an extra treat, stop by the gift shop and spoil the kids with a souvenir so they'll remember their wonderful experience.5
