3. Defrosting.

   Be sure to perform Step 2 when you prepare you refrigerator for moving about 24-48 hours before you begin your packing process for your move so that you can unplug and defrost your fridge. You’ll want to put towels down to catch the water if you have a large fridge that can’t be moved outside.

4. Clean out your fridge.

   You will want to get rid of any moisture or water that remains inside your fridge completely before closing it for your move. Any leftover water or moisture can cause mildew to start growing.

5. Secure your shelves.

   Make sure that the shelves of the fridge and freezer are either removed or properly secured inside so that they don’t come loose and break during your move.

6. Measure your fridge.

   Make sure you measure the height, length and width of your fridge before trying to remove it from your home. It may not fit through the doorways or in the moving van.
